The dolls below have been sold, but they give you an idea of what I have done and can do for your customized creation (bearing in mind that a custom doll based off one below may look similar, but will not be the same).

Dana--(long story) This fairy is a surprise custom creation for a very dear friend of mine. I've been looking forward, for some time now, to when I'd have enough of a lull in orders to figure out exactly how I wanted this doll to emerge and develop--to let her come together naturally, when I had time to consider all of the emotions I have for my friend. Even though this friend is absolutely one of the most important people in my life (and has been for--wow--19 years now), I have to admit, I had no clue what her favorite color (besides black) is; therefore, I had no reference point to start with, so I turned to her granddaughter for a bit of covert questioning on my behalf. Her granddaughter came back to me affirming black but adding amethyst and blue. Hmmmm. Off to the fabric store. The royal purples were flat--not what my friend represents to me. I kept walking, waiting to be spoken to.

In the end, I wound up home with a purple and an iridescent reddish-purple that flashes quite brilliantly when the light hits it. Such meaning! This friend has always found a glow in me, even when I didn't know it was there. In time, she gave me a true gift by nudging me toward seeing it for myself, something under the surface and unique.

I decided to layer the royal purple underneath this special color organza, and on top of that, layer a black overskirt, open in the front, so both colors peek through--symbolic. When it came to the eyes, I stalled out with *no* idea what eye color would go with the colors I'd chosen. Then the next bit of symbolism made itself clear when I picked up my purple pen, figuring I'd just keep to the color scheme...but it was more than that: my friend met me when I wore purple contacts.

All in all, it seems to me, that this fairy came together quite nicely to express the "wonderfulness" of my friendship and the love and respect that I have for my friend; I hope she will see all of that, too, when she looks at this doll. I hope she'll know how extraordinary she is to me, and how special she makes me feel. 4mm buttons joint her elbows and knees; she is also jointed at her shoulders and hips.

Jessy--Custom gift faerie for, my bestie. "Jessy" was a super secret, covert-ops doll that I made for my buddy (of the same name). As appreciation for her listening ear, encouragement, and general patience with my craziness. The red and black color motif are representative of the doll's namesake's new studio which is--drum roll--red and black. The striped legs are a nod to my Skrumgly line, because Jessy (the real one) and I will be collaborating on a new project together within that Skrumgly framework; I can't wait to work with her talent! Stay tuned, because Jessy will soon be releasing her own line of customized chests and jewelry boxes--they're amazing...like her! 4mm buttons joint her elbows and knees; she is also jointed at her shoulders and hips.

Aelphaba--Custom order. Second "Elphaba" I have made, but this one was made for the person who originally requested it, YEARS ago--we were both fans of _Wicked_ before the play ever came out, and at the point she asked me to make her, I'd read the novel six or seven times and had even started my thesis about the book. I was too in awe of the Elphaba character to be anything more than intimidated by bringing her to life. She was a long time in coming.

Daniella--Custom order faerie. Purple fairy made for a butterfly loving little girl. Daniella has dirty-blonde hair, blue eyes, and a belt of butterflies. 4mm buttons joint her elbows and knees; she is also jointed at her shoulders and hips.

Tracie--Custom order faerie. *Grey and glowing silver fairy with green eyes and brown hair. I knew which yarn I'd use for her hair from the beginning, but what I didn't realize until I pulled it out and began creating the wig, was that it had the same grey running through it as Tracie's dress. I love it when things come together on their own! 4mm buttons joint her elbows and knees; she is also jointed at her shoulders and hips. *Yes, I know that most people spell it "gray," I've just always spelled it in the English way, and I've never been able to mentally change it without it being fingernails on a chalkboard to me...awww, artist quirks ;)~

Kalynda--Custom order faerie. Honestly, the name wasn't my idea! One of my best customers, who also happens to be a friend, decided this girl needed my name. Kalynda is a "twin" of Rage, who was made in 2009, but unlike Rage, this girl has far less attitude ;) Black, Midnight Blue and Silver organza dress, silver ribbons, and black hair with blue hair wraps and a blue under-wig. 4mm buttons joint her elbows and knees; she is also jointed at her shoulders and hips.
